Who are you and what were you doing before coming to Geneva?
My name is Susan Hughston-Roberts and I serve as a counselor in the Counseling Center at Geneva College. Before joining Geneva College, I served as a school social worker for the Aliquippa School District for 24 years. During this time, I worked with students on attendance, homelessness, and coordinated the Youth Ambassador Program of Beaver County & Student Assistance Program. In addition to my work at Geneva, I am a mental health counselor at Western Pennsylvania Psych Care, where I have served for the last six years.
When should a student come see you?
Students should come to see me when they are struggling with anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, anger, relationship & faith issues, sexual brokenness, or feeling overwhelmed and alone.
How would a student come and see you?
A student would come to see me by filling out the request for counseling services by using the QR code found around campus or on the MyGeneva website.
What does it cost?
All services are free!
What's something you want to tell parents regarding your area?
I am here to support your student(s) as they work on growing personally, professionally, spiritually, and mentally, as they grow and mold into their adulthood. I care deeply about providing all students with healthy skills to work through the challenges of life, stay focused on Christ, and truly understand their full potential in being amazing professionals in the field of their choice.
