Homecoming 2022 Recap

Picture of Homecoming 2022 Recap

Homecoming & Family Weekend 2022 was one of our largest attended Homecoming weekends ever! Attendees represented 30 states and even other countries! From France, Alaska, Minnesota, and many others, to Beaver County, alumni represented communities far and wide.

The weekend had a grand kick-off on Wednesday the 5 th with Spirit Day! Students, staff, and faulty on campus, along with alumni across the world, represented Geneva head to toe. The Annual Bitar Memorial Lecture Series was our first event on Thursday evening, consisting of a dinner and Lecture Series featuring Mark Boespflug, PhD ’05.

Friday began a lot of the festivities with our Annual Bitar Lecture Series continuing, Our Golden Grads Reunion Luncheon, and campus tours. The evening picked up with many alumni and families trying out our zipline, attending the alumni calling & career panels, taking part in our student & alumni networking reception, and the alumni awards dinner. Friday ended with a Genevans Concert and the annual student bonfire & car smash event on the Pearce Overlook.

Many people arrived on campus Saturday morning to take part in our 5K & 1-mile Fun Walk or try some of President Troup’s famous pancakes at the Presidential Pancake Breakfast that benefits Geneva Athletics. Our Homecoming Parade began at 10 a.m. downtown Beaver Falls and made its way up to campus for a grand finish around 11 a.m. Food trucks, bounce houses, races, yard games, prizes, a petting zoo, reunions, a magic show, New Song concert, and many other activities filled campus from 11-2 p.m. as families reconnected and reminisced. Also during this time was the Class of 2020 Pavilion Dedication.

The afternoon was dedicated largely to our athletics and band as Metheny Fieldhouse held the Women’s Volleyball Alumnae game, and 3 p.m. kicked off our Homecoming football game that ended in a Golden Tornado win against Allegheny College 35-21. Later that evening our Men’s Rugby team took on Carnegie Mellon University.

Saturday evening, the close of Homecoming weekend, also featured a post-game tailgate, over 120 alumni participated in the Genevans 85 th Reunion Dinner & Concert, and the Student-Sibling Open Mic Night.

The weekend was full of remembering the past and building excitement for the future. Many attendees had not seen the campus in years, or even from when they graduated. Hope and anticipation filled the air as many alumni spoke of the moving of Route 18, the construction of Northwood, added parking, campus & field renovations, new signage and banners, along with many other exciting changes. Homecoming is the perfect time for reflection, connection, and fellowship.

We love our Geneva community!
