Turning Passion Into A Career

Picture of Turning Passion Into A Career

Natalia Muoio started her college career at Edinboro University in 2016 but transferred to the Community College of Beaver County (CCBS) for her sophomore year. She finally found her home at Geneva College in 2018 going into her junior year.

“I think for me, I was looking for a school that I fit in at. I transferred to Geneva because I felt like the people were more like me where everyone focused on their schooling.”

Natalia graduated with an undergraduate degree in International Business in 2020. Although Natalia did not know Geneva offered an International Business major when she first transferred, everything fell into place for her. She has always been interested in traveling and the different cultures found around the world. Her International Business major would allow her to turn her passions into a career.

This week-long trip gave Natalia and everyone else on the trip the ability to learn about Costa Rica’s culture and interact with it. Specifically, they were able to see how business in Costa Rica operates very differently from business in the United States.

“This trip was the best part of my degree. Not only was it fun but it was necessary. It gave me international experience I would not have gotten just sitting in a classroom.”

After Natalia graduated, she decided to continue her education in Geneva’s Master of Business Administration (MBA) program with a concentration in marketing. She started this program in the fall of 2020 and graduated with her MBA in 2022.

Many of the Riverhounds owners identify as Christians so going to a Christian college like Geneva helped her to secure this internship which would prove very beneficial for her.

“I did not expect to go into sports but when I was looking for internships, I found one that looked interesting at the Riverhounds. Marketing opened the door for me to enter the sports and entertainment industry.”

Having a job at the Riverhounds while pursuing her MBA gave her the ability to apply everything she was learning to her first full-time job specifically through her marketing courses. This made much of the content more meaningful because she could see how it can be used on a daily basis.

After graduating with her MBA, Natalia began working for the Pittsburgh Steelers in February of 2023. She works in their post-graduate internship program as one of their Direct Marketing: post-grad interns. Natalia helps promote different Steeler events, sending emails to various people groups. Growing up, she watched many football games but now she can watch the games from a marketing perspective, seeing everything that goes on behind the scenes to make a game a success. She also helped run youth football camps for kids in the Pittsburgh area.

Reflecting on the education Geneva provided her during her undergraduate and graduate studies, Natalia is thankful she decided to transfer to Geneva. She was not only taught the business side of things, but she was taught the morals behind decision making which has helped her to become a better person within the business world.

“Geneva opened doors for me, giving me resources and connections. Specifically, my professors helped me make decisions. I can still talk to them today and they are still a resource to me. They can help guide me through life still.”
