The Geneva College Campus Safety and Security Department is responsible for ensuring the orderly flow of traffic and to obtain the proper use and maximum utilization of parking spaces. To that end, it is necessary to have and enforce regulations related to the operation and parking of vehicles while on campus. The operation of motor vehicles on Geneva College roadways and the registering of motor vehicles to obtain parking permits to park in college parking lots are considered privileges and not rights of individuals. This policy defines the responsibilities of individuals and the consequences for not adhering to the policy.
Geneva College has a variety of general use parking spaces, Faculty/Staff (Employee) designated spaces, Handicap-accessible spaces, and other Restricted use (visitor, health services, etc.) spaces on campus. Parking is on a first come, first serve basis for the designated permit area. Possession of a parking permit does not guarantee availability of a parking space at any given time. Practicing courtesy and patience regarding parking is encouraged. Resident Students should park their vehicles at their resident halls and walk the campus.
All students, faculty, and staff who possess, maintain, or operate motor vehicles (including motorcycles, motorbikes, motor scooters or any other motor-driven vehicle) on the Geneva College campus must register each motor vehicle that will be parked on campus by completing the online form located on myGeneva. It is an individual’s responsibility to notify the Campus Safety Office of any changes to his/her vehicle information. A Permit does not guarantee parking on campus, but rather allows parking on campus per this policy.
The cost for a student parking permit is $100 and it is valid for the entire academic year (August – May). Students who are dependents of faculty or staff are not to use their parent’s permit when parking on campus.
Students may apply for a parking permit with the Student Information/Enrolled Student Forms on myGeneva. Payment for the parking permit will be required at the end of the application process. Upon the completion of the form and payment of a permit fee, the operator will receive a single vehicle permit that must be displayed on the vehicle in the appropriate location. Operators of motorcycles, motorbikes, motor scooters, and other motor-driven vehicles will apply for a normal permit and obtain a sticker from Campus Safety for that vehicle. This sticker is to be affixed to the front fork or down tube.
All students parking on campus must register their vehicles each academic year. Students will receive a new color permit for the academic school year registered. No previous permits will be honored. No parking permit refunds will be issued. The parking lots and their use are listed below and shown in the accompanying map. Parking in areas not specified for the type of parking your permit allows will result in possible ticketing with a $50.00 fine for each violation.

These parking spaces can likewise be used weekday nights from 6:00 p.m. to midnight.
Students with over three (3) campus parking violations in one semester could have their permit revoked for the rest of the academic year without refund of any portion of the permit fee. If the parking permit is revoked, that student will be required to park on public streets, not on campus property, and may be towed or booted upon further violations.
All vehicle operators are expected to abide by college parking regulations and signage.
Anyone parking illegally in any of the above areas will be subject to fines, boot and/or towing, and responsible for any damage occurring to the property. (See Boot/Vehicle Immobilization and Towing).
Motor vehicle operators must obey directional signs. Negligent or reckless driving on the campus is not permitted. If a vehicle operator is found by Campus Safety to be driving in a negligent or reckless fashion, a fine may be assessed and/or campus parking privileges may be revoked. All fines are $50.00 and based on the Security Officers observations. Moving violations include: Driving Too Fast for Conditions, Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Follow Traffic Signals.
Faculty and Staff may apply for a parking permit under the Campus Safety tab on myGeneva. These permits are reserved for non-student employees. Faculty/Staff (Employee) permits are to be used while employed at Geneva College. Vehicle registration information should be kept up to date. Vehicles displaying authorized Faculty/Staff (Employee) permits may park in any parking lot on campus as indicated on the parking lot list. Dependent students of faculty and staff enrolled at the College, are not to use their parent’s permit when parking on campus. There is no guarantee for any individual that an available space will be near their primary work location. If a Faculty/Staff (Employee) member has a physical limitation that limits their mobility, requiring them to be able to park closer to their primary work location, they are urged to talk with Campus Safety to obtain a handicap-accessible parking permit. Campus Safety cannot guarantee immediate response to requests from Faculty/Staff (Employee) regarding having illegally parked vehicles ticketed or moved.
Visitors to Geneva College are permitted to park in the designated Visitor Parking spaces in Parking Lot A, near Alexander Hall. A visitor parking pass is required during business hours. Visitor Spaces can be used by all permitted vehicles after 6:00 p.m.
Students who have a visitor should find parking off campus. For visitors sponsored by faculty and staff, the Department welcoming the visitor should, prior to their visit, complete the Visitor parking pass request form found on the Campus Safety tab on myGeneva. This will email the visitor and the person completing the form a copy of the visitor pass. The visitor should then print out the form and place it on their dashboard when they arrive on campus. If the visitor forgets to print and display the pass, the person completing it for them can print it. If a visitor’s vehicle is ticketed for not displaying a valid Visitor parking pass, the back of the ticket should be completed by the visitor and taken to the Department or to the mail room and forwarded to the Campus Safety Office.
Handicap-accessible parking areas are clearly designated and are only for those individuals with a state-issued disability plate or a college-issued disability parking permit. Unauthorized vehicles parked in handicap-accessible areas will be subject to fines, boot and/or towing, possible loss of parking privileges on campus, and/or judicial sanctions.
Any person without a state-issued disability plate, requiring the use of handicap-accessible parking areas, must visit the Campus Safety Office to procure a temporary disability parking permit. All disability parking permits must be approved by the Director of Campus Safety and will have a designated date of expiration. This permit is to be displayed on the driver’s side dashboard and serves as the individual’s permit to park on campus in designated handicap-accessible parking areas. If an individual is unable to obtain a temporary disability parking permit prior to parking in a handicap-accessible parking area and they receive a ticket, they are to follow the process regarding ticket appeals below.
Parking violation tickets will be issued to vehicles illegally, in violation of this policy or improperly parked, and failure to display a valid parking permit. The owner/operator of a ticketed vehicle is responsible for the penalty as directed on the ticket. Parking ticket fines will be as follows:
All parking ticket fines are to be paid in the Student Financial Services Office located in Alexander Hall during business hours, after hours payment is not possible at this time. Payment will be accepted by a check, or cash. A receipt should be obtained at the time of payment. All fines not paid within ten (10) business days will be applied directly to a student’s bill.
All parking ticket fines are to be paid at myGeneva or in the Office of Financial Aid in Alexander Hall during business hours; after-hours payment is unavailable. The office accepts cash or check only. All fines not paid within ten (10) business days will be applied directly to a student’s bill.
Any individual who wishes to appeal a parking ticket must do so within ten (10) business days of the citation issuance. Failure to appeal within the above period will result in the loss of the right to appeal. All appeals must be made in writing to the Campus Safety Office.
The Campus Safety Office uses vehicle immobilizers (also known as boots) as an additional parking enforcement tool. A vehicle boot is a device attached to the rear driver’s side wheel, which immobilizes the vehicle until it is removed by authorities with a proper key. The boot program will be used with towing to enforce campus parking policies promptly.
A vehicle will be subject to boot/towing if it is parked in any of the following areas:
All vehicles registered with the Campus Safety Office require the phone number of the operator. When a vehicle is booted, the office will send an email to the operator’s Geneva account and/or leave a message on the operator’s designated contact phone advising of the vehicle’s status. The operator will have 48 hours (2 days) in which to contact the Campus Safety Office for boot removal. After 48 hours the vehicle will be subject to towing. Failure to provide appropriate contact information with the vehicle registration may result in the vehicle being towed.
All Vehicles booted will have a notice attached to the driver side windshield advising the owner to contact Campus Security to have the boot removed and to ascertain the owner of the vehicle. Offenders will be fined $50.00 to have the boot removed.
Arrangements for boot removal may be made by contacting the Campus Security Office at (724) 846-9632. Only security officers are authorized to remove a boot from a vehicle.
In the case of multiple violations, a boot will not be removed until the boot removal fee of $50 is paid. If a boot is removed by anyone other than a Campus Security Officer or is tampered with in any way, the fee is $250. A replacement cost will be levied for a damaged or lost boot. All parking boot fines and fees are to be paid with myGeneva or at the Office of Financial Aid in Alexander Hall during business hours. The office accepts cash or check only. After hours payment can be made to the Security Officer removing the boot after hours. All fines not paid within ten (10) business days will be applied directly to a student’s bill.
Geneva College may tow vehicles that create a physically dangerous situation or have been parked in such a way that it has been determined the vehicle needs to be moved and the operator cannot be located. Parking in prohibited areas as designated above are subject to immediate towing based on the violation and will be towed and stored at the expense of the owner/operator. Once a tow company has been called, the operator of the vehicle is responsible for all fees that are incurred with the tow company.
State and City regulations apply when driving on public streets. Please observe speed limits and parking regulations the same way you would away from campus. Vehicles parked in no-parking areas on the city streets are subject to fines and/or towing by the City of Beaver Falls at the owner’s expense.
