Thanksmas at Geneva

Students, faculty and staff are invited to celebrate Geneva’s Thanksmas, a celebration of Thanksgiving and Christmas rolled into one, on Friday, Nov. 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Events for the Geneva community are scheduled throughout the day, including singing, cider, cocoa and donuts, giving thanks at Thanksmas, gingerbread house building and more.

Any live events follow strict COVID-19 protocols regarding mask requirements, space and hand sanitizer. Care for our community!Everyone is urged to wear their favorite Thanksgiving or Christmas attire and join in the fun.

8:30 -9 a.m.     Virtual Prayer led by Dr. Calvin L. Troup (Register in advance.)

9-10 a.m.         Virtual BINGO called by Randon Willard (Register in advance.)

Instructions for Bingo:

  • Please download and print your bingo card. You may play with however many cards you like. Please fill out each block with a word pertaining to Thanksgiving or Christmas.
  • We will play multiple rounds.  You can only win 1 round. 
  • If you prefer, join the live Bingo game in Skye Lounge. 

10:10 -11 a.m.  Singing, Cider, Cocoa & Donuts – Old Main Steps
Join us for a time of Thanksmas songs led by Drs. Terry Thomas & Doug Bradbury. Followed by complimentary donuts, cider and cocoa. 

11 - 12 p.m.     Thanks at Thanksmas – Old Main Portico
Make a 10-second video of thanks for someone in the Geneva community (a friend, professor, coach, etc.) who’s been important to you. Join us, and PR will record and share the Thanks at Thanksmas!

1 - 2 p.m.         Elf on the Shelf Riddles
All-student emails will be sent every 15 minutes for students to find the Elf on the Shelf.  The elf will be holding a present for the first student to find it.

3 - 5 p.m.         Gingerbread House Building – Skye Lounge
Kits are prepared and ready for students to take with them or build in Skye.

6 p.m. – 7 p.m. Thanksmas Tales with Dan Williams – Library
Come to McCartney Library and hear Thanksgiving/Christmas tales featuring our own Dr. Dan Williams

8 – 10 p.m.      Christmas Movie (Feature to be announced soon!)

8-11 p.m.         Turkey Badminton Tournament – Fieldhouse
