The accounting major prepares students for careers in managerial, governmental, or certified public accounting positions.

Geneva’s program offers students the opportunity to define their accounting track towards:

  • public (150 total credit hours)
  • private accounting (120 credit hours)

Both tracks offer students instruction from CPA faculty and the potential for internships in their related areas of interest. The public track is designed to meet the requirements of the State Board of Accountancy to sit for the CPA examination.

Accounting graduates are more than equipped to meet today’s demand for well-prepared and ethical accountants who are able to function in the business world.

The learning objectives for accounting majors are:

  1. Students should be able to demonstrate conceptual knowledge of the various functional areas of business. 
  2. Students should be able to carry out problem analysis, synthesis, and evaluation utilizing the appropriate techniques, technical applications, and principles to develop business plans and solutions.
