During the semester two types of writing consultations are available to Geneva students

One-on-one remote (online) consultations

Any Geneva student can schedule a one-on-one, online writing consultation with a Peer Writing Consultant during the Fall and Spring semesters via an online booking form.

May and Summer Terms: Send an email to kxmantin@geneva.edu to book a remote consultation.

Drop-in hours for in-person consultations (limited hours)

Drop-in hours are offered during the Fall and Spring semesters for in-person consultations at the Writing Center on the main level of McCartney Library.

Drop-in consultations are first come, first served. Consultations will be kept to no more than 20 minutes if there are other writers waiting. Please maintain six feet of distance between yourself and others while waiting your turn for a drop-in consultation.

To prepare for your drop-in writing consultation:

  • Come to the Writing Center on the main floor of McCartney Library during the established Drop-In Hours. Please remember your mask and maintain a six-foot distance from others.
  • Have the document you wish to review saved in the cloud and ready to access when the consultation begins.
  • You and the Peer Writing Consultant will look at your document together in Teams when you share your screen.
  • Remember! You can borrow a Chromebook from the McCartney Library Circulation Desk if you do not have a laptop to use for your writing consultation.

Tutors will help you with any aspect of your writing, including:

  • Understanding an assignment
  • Brainstorming ideas
  • Organizing thoughts
  • Writing paragraphs
  • Crafting sentences
  • Formatting a paper
