prssa.jpgGeneva College's Chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (GC PRSSA) has almost completed its official first year. This academic year has been marked by a great deal of activity and success.

Twenty-six student members-consisting of communications and business students -experienced professional development events and networking opportunities with industry leaders such as Disney Social Media Manager Matt Prince, and 2005 Geneva graduate Sean McCartney, former Public Relations Manager for the agency that represented the Israel Ministry of Tourism to the Christian market.

The GC PRSSA met specific chapter and professional development goals and has sent in the necessary application to be recognized as a PRSSA Star Chapter. The GC PRSSA was also recognized as one of Geneva's 2012-2013 top five student-run organizations on campus by the Geneva College Student Union (GCSU) for providing professional development events and resources to its members.

Geneva′s chapter also gained national representation through the efforts of junior communications major Ben Butler, who was elected by delegates from across the country to serve as the PRSSA 2013-2014 National Vice President of Public Relations.

PRSSA is made up of more than 11,000 students and advisors organized into over 300 chapters in the United States and one in Argentina.
