Nicole Bartoletta Breaks School Record, Earns Ticket to Nationals

Bartoletta Earns Ticket to NCAA DIII Nationals

Beaver Falls, Pa.  – On Thursday, May 18 a select handful of Geneva College Track & Field student-athletes competed at Ohio Wesleyan University’s 2017 Great Lakes Final Qualifying Meet. Junior Nicole Bartoletta broke her own school record while earning a ticket to the 2017 Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Nicole Bartoletta moved up as the sixth-fastest women’s 100-meter hurdler nationally on Friday. Her time of 14.33 seconds broke her own Geneva College record. Bartoletta advances to her second straight national competition after earning the title of the ninth-fastest indoor 60-meter hurdler in the nation during the 2017 Indoor Track & Field Championships.

“Nicole has continued to get better and better,” says head coach Phil Thompson. “It was a big accomplishment appearing in Indoor Nationals but it is always a goal of a track athlete to compete well in outdoors.

“Her best time up until this meet was 14.56 seconds; dropping two-tenth of a second is unbelievable. She is hitting all cylinders at the exact time she needs it.”

The 2017 Outdoor Track & Field Championships will take place in Geneva, Ohio on Thursday, May 25 through Saturday, May 27.
