Year in Review: 13 Records Reset During Track & Field 2017 Season

track

Golden Tornado Track and Field teams can look back at 2017 as a year to remember as they left a significant mark at the school. The GTs rewrote the records book five times during the outdoor season.

Nicole Bartoletta broke her own 100 meter hurdles record (2016) with a new time of 14.56 seconds, and she also broke fellow teammate Jessica Kelosky’s 2016 100 meter dash record with a time of 12.42 seconds.

Bartoletta, Sarah Klein, Kelosky, and Kailee Loose made their mark again in the 4x100 meter relay, breaking their own 2016 record with a time of 48.26 seconds.

The men made school history, as well. For the first time in the program’s history, Geneva College won the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Championship title.

Senior Cameron Unrath helped to secure the title for the school by breaking the 100 meter dash record with a new time of 10.77 seconds. The previous mark was held by Aaron Stuck who ran a time of 10.88 in 2004.

Unrath worked alongside Henry Kennedy, Aaron Tedys, and Alex Parker to reset the record in the 4x100 meter relay to a mere 41.85 seconds, breaking the mark that a team including Unrath and Tedys set in 2015.

Between the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons, 2017 will be noted 13 notes in the record books.
