Cameron Unrath Closes Track Career by Setting Two School Records

Cameron Unrath

Beaver Falls, Pa.  – On Thursday, May 18 a select handful of Geneva College Track & Field student-athletes competed at Ohio Wesleyan University’s 2017 Great Lakes Final Qualifying Meet. Cameron Unrath posted the fastest men’s 100-meter and 200-meter sprint time in Geneva history in Delaware, Ohio. Unrath’s time of 10.68 in the men’s 100-meter dash broke his own school record while he set another record in the men’s 200-meter dash with a final time of 21.64 seconds.

“It was just great to see Cam accomplish these goals that he has been working for over the last four years,” says head coach Phil Thompson. “Track & Field is not a rewarding sport. The student-athletes put in all this time to take of a hundredth of a second here and there. He came in as a freshman running 11.3 second 100-meter dash times to his senior year running 10.68 second time shows how much work her put in.

“He then came back in the 200-meter dash and broke one of the toughest school records; which was just fun to see.”

Thompson also highlighted the career finish of senior Dalton Paxson, who joined Unrath on Friday. “Paxson ran his best time too. He ran a 14.83 second time in the men’s 110 high meter hurdles, which puts him in the top 50 in the nation. So, it was great to see both those seniors finish on such a high note.”
