Biomedical Research

A biomedical research degree from Geneva, with a concentration in cell and molecular biology and possibly a chemistry minor, is ideal preparation for a career in biomedical research at any level: as a lab technician straight out of college or as a graduate student working toward a master′s degree or Ph.D. Practical experience doing research — either at Geneva or during a summer undergraduate research program at a major university — enhances the chances of being accepted into a top 30 graduate program.

Medical Technology

A three-year sequence of specific courses at Geneva can be combined with 12 months of clinical training at Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown, PA, to earn a B.S. degree in biology from Geneva plus a certificate from the medical center that makes the student eligible to take the certification exam to be a certified medical technologist.

Pre-Med Program

Geneva′s biology program prepares students for entry into allopathic or osteopathic medical schools and into professional schools of dental, veterinary, podiatric, optometric and chiropractic medicine. The biology curriculum offers medical school prerequisites, plus additional coursework in chemistry and English enables students to meet entrance requirements for medical school as well as sit for the MCAT, DAT, VAT, GRE or OAT exams.

Geneva graduates who apply for entrance to medical school have been accepted over 80% of the time, well above the national average. The MCAT preparation class exposes pre-medical students to an intense two-semester review curriculum and to at least three full-length MCAT practice exams prior to taking the actual MCAT. Recent Geneva graduates have been accepted into medical schools such as The University of Pittsburgh, Ohio University, Thomas Jefferson University, Southern Illinois University and Temple University.

Pre-Dental Program

All of the courses necessary to take the Dental Admission Test (DAT) are available at Geneva. Our Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) preparation course also helps prepare students for the DAT. Application to dental schools is made after the junior year at Geneva.

Pre-Nursing Program

Geneva College has an affiliate relationship with Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, New York. This enables a student to earn a BSN degree by combining two years at Geneva with two years at Roberts Wesleyan. You can earn your nursing prerequisite courses and then complete your education with the knowledge, skills and God-given compassion to work in this caring profession.

This program permits students to participate in Geneva′s Reformed approach to liberal arts and sciences for two years. The credits are then transferred to Roberts Wesleyan College and applied toward a four-year BSN degree. All nursing theory and clinical courses are included in the last two years of the program.

Pursuing an allied health degree from Geneva College will prepare students with the necessary prerequisites for programs:

  • Pre-Occupational Therapy Program
  • Pre-Optometry Program
  • Pre-Pharmacy Program
  • Pre-Physical Therapy Program
  • Pre-Physician Assistant Program
  • Pre-Veterinary Program
