Accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, Geneva's engineering and computer science program provides a breadth of knowledge through common core courses in programming, software engineering, computer architecture, operating systems and networks, as well as a depth of knowledge in an application area through completion of a minor or second major chosen to complement talents, interests and vocational goals.

Engineering Program: Educational Objectives

Preamble: We encourage our students and graduates to make choices and commitments "for faithful and fruitful service to God and neighbor."  For all engineering graduates, we have the following objectives:

  1. Embrace a Christian worldview - understanding the science and technology relevant to their fields and practicing biblical ethics as they perform their work and interact effectively with diverse teams of people.

  2. Be active members of Christian churches and engaged in church leadership roles, Christian service, and/or community service appropriate to their gifts and opportunities.

  3. Grow professionally and obtain certifications and/or advanced degrees appropriate to their career path.

Engineering Program: Student Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the engineering program, graduates will have achieved the following outcomes:

  1. an ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering
  2. an ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data
  3. an ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability
  4. an ability to function on multidisciplinary teams
  5. an ability to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems
  6. an ability to articulate the meaning and impact of the Christian faith on how they will practice engineering professionally and ethically
  7. an ability to communicate effectively and ethically
  8. the broad education necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, societal, ecclesiastical, and missionary context
  9. a recognition of the need for, and an ability to engage in life-long learning in the spiritual, social, professional, and other spheres
  10. a knowledge of contemporary issues
  11. an ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice
  12. an understanding of the Biblical concept of calling, particularly of the calling to be an engineer
  13. an understanding of the relationship between science, technology, and a Christian world view
